The Dallas Cowboys are activating offensive lineman Tyler Smith from injured reserve, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Smith returned to practice earlier in the week and was a full participant on Wednesday. Following thumb surgery that sidelined him to start the season, Smith is eligible to make his 2026 debut on Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Smith's return provides a key reinforcement at left guard alongside left tackle Tyler Guyton. Dallas currently averages 30.5 points per game during a 2-2 start to the season. Activating Smith uses one of the Cowboys' designated return slots, leaving the franchise with five remaining activations for the regular season.
