Dallas Cowboys rookie defensive back Caleb Downs has been placed in concussion protocol following an injury suffered against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The first-round pick left the field during the fourth quarter after being knocked down twice on a single play by Cardinals offensive lineman Hjalte Froholdt during a 52-yard run by Tyler Allgeier.
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer confirmed the medical update following the team's 33-30 overtime defeat at AT&T Stadium. The loss dropped Dallas to a 3-5 record on the season after blowing a 10-point fourth-quarter lead, though owner Jerry Jones stated he is not considering a coaching change at this time.
