Brian Schottenheimer had plenty to share about the Dallas Cowboys' injured players before the first practice of the week. And for a roster already stretched thin, the timing couldn't be worse.

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer provided several injury updates ahead of the team's Week 9 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. First-round rookie outside linebacker Malachi Lawrence is expected to miss a few weeks due to an ankle injury sustained against the Arizona Cardinals. In the secondary, safeties Caleb Downs and PJ Locke remain in concussion protocol, while Jalen Thompson's practice window has not yet been opened as he recovers from a hamstring injury.
There were positive developments on defense, with linebacker Dee Winters doing individual work as he works back from an injury suffered in Week 6. At tight end, Jake Ferguson will work with athletic trainers due to a low ankle sprain, whereas Luke Schoonmaker is working back into practice following a groin issue.
