The Denver Broncos took a 7-0 lead against the Los Angeles Chargers in the first quarter of their Week 5 matchup. Following an opening punt, Denver's defense generated a turnover when Talanoa Hufanga forced a fumble that the Broncos recovered at the Chargers' 40-yard line. Bo Nix then connected on a 34-yard pass to Evan Engram before running back J.K. Dobbins scored on a three-yard touchdown run.
Los Angeles struggled to respond as defensive stops from Alex Singleton and a quarter-ending sack by Nik Bonitto disrupted the Chargers' offensive momentum. Despite Denver suffering a quick three-and-out backed up near their own goal line, their defense maintained the shutout advantage through the end of the opening quarter.
