Tim Twentyman covers all the Detroit Lions news of the day including defensive back Brian Branch & center Cade Mays preparing to return, a new punt returner on special teams and more.

Detroit Lions Pro Bowl safety Brian Branch is on track to make his season debut on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. Branch, who has been sidelined since tearing his Achilles last December against Dallas, confirmed he is ready to return after Thursday's practice. Defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard praised Branch's versatility and playmaking caliber, noting the defense is eager to reintegrate him into the lineup.
On offense, center Cade Mays is also scheduled to make his Lions debut on Sunday after missing time with a preseason wrist injury. Additionally, following a knee injury to wide receiver Tom Kennedy that placed him on injured reserve, the Lions signed veteran receiver and return specialist DeAndre Carter to contribute to the offense and special teams.
