The Green Bay Packers placed running back Chris Brooks on injured reserve following an ankle injury, the team announced on Saturday. Brooks, who had been leading the backfield in snaps this season, will be sidelined for at least the next four games. He will first be eligible to return to the active 53-man roster in Week 9 against the New England Patriots.\n\nGreen Bay previously elevated running back Pierre Strong Jr. from the practice squad to help bolster a backfield that includes MarShawn Lloyd and Kaleb Johnson, while Josh Jacobs remains on the commissioner exempt list. The Packers did not immediately make a corresponding roster move, leaving an open spot that could potentially be filled by receiver Savion Williams.
