The Giants are "honing in on" a decision on who will start at quarterback for Sunday's game against the Texans, coach John Harbaugh said Monday.

New York Giants coach John Harbaugh is deciding between quarterbacks J.J. McCarthy and Jameis Winston to start against the Houston Texans. The decision follows a 34-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints, where McCarthy replaced Winston in the fourth quarter. McCarthy threw for 243 yards and led three scoring drives, nearly completing a comeback, while Winston threw for 152 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.
Harbaugh noted that the team is evaluating schemes, pass protection against Houston's pass rush, and how McCarthy's mobility could improve a struggling run game. Initial starting quarterback Jaxson Dart suffered a knee injury in Week 2, prompting earlier offensive adjustments. The Giants expect to make their starting quarterback decision before Wednesday's practice.
