The San Francisco 49ers are releasing veteran defensive tackle Naquan Jones, according to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero. Because of his veteran status, the 28-year-old does not have to pass through waivers, which Pelissero noted could indicate potential roster maneuvering by San Francisco amid injury issues.
Jones originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent from Michigan State in 2021 with the Tennessee Titans. Across his career, he has had stints with the Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans, and Minnesota Vikings before playing three games for the 49ers in 2026.
