The Houston Texans have made their position on fourth-year quarterback C.J. Stroud crystal clear amid their 2-5 start to the season.

Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio reaffirmed the team's commitment to quarterback C.J. Stroud on October 26, clarifying his long-term future in Houston. Caserio revealed that the franchise and Stroud were close to finalizing a contract extension before the season began, but negotiations halted once the campaign started without any lingering hard feelings.
Stroud remains under team control through the 2027 season via his fifth-year option, and Caserio fully expects an agreement to eventually be reached. The general manager and head coach DeMeco Ryans strongly praised Stroud's offseason work ethic and his strong performance on the field.
