The Indianapolis Colts have signed veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton as a free agent following an injury to starter Alec Pierce. Pierce was placed on injured reserve due to a heel injury after the Colts opened their season with an 0-2 record. Slayton became available after being released by the New York Giants at the end of the preseason.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, Slayton acknowledged that multiple teams contacted him, but Pierce's injury presented a clear opportunity in Indianapolis. Across his seven-year NFL career with the Giants, Slayton recorded 296 receptions for 4,435 yards and 22 touchdowns.
