Opportunity knocked and Darius Slayton answered; fills Alec Pierce’s void

The Indianapolis Colts have signed free-agent wide receiver Darius Slayton to a one-year contract following an injury to Alec Pierce. Pierce aggravated a surgically repaired left heel during a game against the Kansas City Chiefs and was subsequently placed on the injured reserve list on Wednesday, ruling him out for at least four games.

Slayton was released by the New York Giants on September 7 before choosing Indianapolis over several other offers. The move reunites Slayton with Colts quarterback Daniel Jones, his former Giants teammate from their shared 2019 draft class.
