The Story in 60 Seconds

The Jacksonville Jaguars have established an elite run defense in the 2026 season ahead of Sunday's AFC South clash against the Houston Texans. Through five games, Jacksonville became the first team since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger to not allow any single opposing rusher to reach 40 yards in a game. Opposing running backs have combined for just 210 yards on 83 carries, averaging 2.5 yards per rush.

The Jaguars' run defense also holds an active 23-game streak without allowing an individual 75-yard rusher. This dominant stretch could cause severe issues for a Texans offense that entered Week 6 ranked 31st in the NFL with only 395 rushing yards.
