Injuries to Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton have opened the door for Jalen Royals to prove he deserves a larger role in the Chiefs' offense.

Bransen Gibson of Arrowhead Addict argues that Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Jalen Royals must capitalize on injuries to Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton. With Thornton out for most of the season and Rice expected to miss at least the upcoming game against the Los Angeles Chargers, Gibson asserts that the 23-year-old Royals represents Kansas City's best internal option to absorb an expanded offensive role.
Gibson believes Royals' short-to-intermediate route running makes him an ideal replacement in Rice's role alongside Xavier Worthy. The writer argues that strong production from Royals could prevent the Chiefs from surrendering valuable draft capital in an expensive midseason trade for veteran receivers such as Jerry Jeudy, Calvin Ridley, or Chris Godwin.
