The NFL fined Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Chris Roland-Wallace $5,981 for throwing a punch during a Week 6 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers. The incident occurred early in the fourth quarter when Chargers offensive lineman Alex Harkey shoved Roland-Wallace, who retaliated by punching Harkey in the helmet. Roland-Wallace was disqualified from the contest following the altercation.
Despite the penalty and subsequent fine, Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo defended Roland-Wallace, stating that the retaliation was out of character for the defensive back. Kansas City won the Week 6 matchup with a dominant 22-6 defensive performance, holding Los Angeles to just two field goals.
