The Kansas City Chiefs need to think about the future and life after Travis Kelce, but trading for Dallas Goedert won't help them with that.

Writer Ernesto Cova argues that ESPN analyst Bill Barnwell's proposal for the Kansas City Chiefs to trade for Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert does not make sense as a long-term succession plan for Travis Kelce. Barnwell suggested the veteran could provide depth and potentially replace Kelce on a new deal, but Cova strongly disputes that concept.
While acknowledging Goedert could serve as a short-term complement, Cova argues that the 31-year-old is not a viable future replacement for Kelce. The writer suggests Kansas City should instead consider alternative options, such as targeting Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta via trade or addressing the position through the NFL Draft.
