The Chiefs' backfield is exponentially better than it was a year ago, but one weakness remains.

Matt Conner of Arrowhead Addict argues that the Kansas City Chiefs could consider reuniting with free agent running back Kareem Hunt to address their short-yardage struggles. Kansas City entered their bye week ranking 23rd in the NFL with a 55.6 percent power success rate, converting only 10 of 18 attempts on third or fourth downs with two or fewer yards to go.
Conner notes that while Kenneth Walker has been inconsistent in short-yardage scenarios, Hunt previously converted 37 of 45 such attempts for Kansas City last season. Although the Chiefs could look internally to fullback Ben VanSumeren or rookie Emmett Johnson, Conner believes Hunt remains a viable specialist option if execution does not improve.
