The Story in 60 Seconds

US Customs and Border Protection officers at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport intercepted a shipment containing 75 counterfeit Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl rings. Arriving from Guangzhou, China, on October 30, the parcel was falsely labeled as containing metal hair pins. The NFL confirmed the rings violated intellectual property rights, and officials estimated genuine versions would carry a combined retail value of approximately $750,000.

At least one of the seized rings was personalized with quarterback Patrick Mahomes' name. CBP notified Homeland Security Investigations regarding the importer, though no arrests have been announced. The incident follows previous seizures of counterfeit Chiefs rings in 2022 and 2024, bringing the total number of fake franchise rings intercepted across the three cases to 215.
