Raiders fans finally got to see Fernando Mendoza, their potential franchise quarterback, make his NFL debut against the New England Patriots in Week 5. But as was expected, the rookie star still has miles to go. Mendoza finished the game…

Former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr shared an honest assessment of rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza following his NFL debut against the New England Patriots in Week 5. Mendoza completed 6 of 8 passes for 48 yards after replacing Kirk Cousins late in a 45-17 loss. Carr noted that mistakes are expected for a rookie facing complex NFL defenses, emphasizing that Mendoza showed promise despite having much to learn.
Following the game, Mendoza acknowledged specific mistakes, including a fourth-down scramble where he felt he should have delivered the ball over the middle. Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak commended the rookie, stating that the game reps were valuable for his development, while minority owner Tom Brady emphasized that young players must earn their playing time through hard work.
