The Detroit Lions reportedly plan to activate safety Brian Branch ahead of Sunday's Week 7 game against the Green Bay Packers. The 25-year-old is set to make his 2026 season debut nearly 11 months after tearing his Achilles on December 4, 2025, against the Dallas Cowboys. He missed the rest of the 2025 campaign and started the 2026 season on the physically unable to perform list.
Branch's return offers a major boost to Detroit's secondary for the key NFC North matchup. Defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard indicated that the Lions do not plan to place Branch on a strict snap count, pointing to a potentially substantial workload in his first game back.
