The Los Angeles Chargers announced they are placing safety Derwin James on injured reserve. In corresponding roster moves, the Chargers signed cornerback Isas Waxter to the active roster and moved cornerback Kaiir Elam from the practice squad. Through the 2026 season, James has appeared in three games, tallying 21 total tackles and one pass deflection.
James was originally selected 17th overall by the Chargers in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Florida State. The 30-year-old safety previously signed a three-year, $75.6 million contract extension that keeps him under contract through the 2029 season.
