Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James Jr. is expected to generate significant trade interest ahead of the deadline, according to reporter Jason La Canfora. Following a surprising 0-6 start to the season, expectations are growing that the franchise could initiate a major roster sell-off despite James being a foundational defensive leader.
Although the 30-year-old defender is under contract through 2029 via a three-year, $75.6 million extension, high demand for his versatile skill set makes a potential permanent trade viable. Through three appearances in the 2026 season, James has recorded 21 total tackles and one pass deflection.
