Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh mentioned a potential situation where one back gets the majority of the carries heading into Week 9…

The Los Angeles Chargers are considering adjusting their running back rotation ahead of Week 9 to allow one rusher to establish a rhythm. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh noted that while the team has rotated three capable backs through the first seven games, coaches are evaluating whether giving the majority of carries to a primary option or riding the "hot hand" would benefit the offense. Offensive Coordinator Mike McDaniel confirmed the coaching staff has discussed shifting the backfield flow.
Omarion Hampton currently leads the Chargers' backfield with six starts, 89 carries, 308 rushing yards, and three touchdowns across 201 snaps. Behind him, Keaton Mitchell has logged 145 snaps and Kimani Vidal has played 134 snaps. The potential adjustment comes as Los Angeles ranks 18th in rushing yards per game and managed just 64 yards on 25 attempts against the Rams.
