45-Year Phiniversary: von Schamann’s Late FG Lifts Dolphins Past Colts in 31-28 Thriller

On September 27, 1981, Miami Dolphins kicker Uwe von Schamann converted a decisive 27-yard field goal with 1:02 remaining to defeat the Baltimore Colts 31-28. The game-winner was set up by a 45-yard pass from quarterback David Woodley to Duriel Harris after the Colts had tied the game at 28.

Woodley passed for 309 yards and two touchdowns, while Andra Franklin added two rushing scores for Miami. Colts quarterback Bert Jones threw for 357 yards and three scores in the loss, but a late penalty and a sack by Bob Baumhower sealed the victory for Miami.
