Maybe a bold swing is the way to go. On ESPN, Bill Barnwell — a veteran football writer — did…

ESPN writer Bill Barnwell proposed a hypothetical trade sending Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley to the Minnesota Vikings. Barnwell suggests Minnesota trade a third-round draft pick to acquire the 29-year-old running back, who is owed $16 million next year. The move is framed around Philadelphia possibly reallocating cap space to fix an injury-depleted offensive line while allowing the Vikings to upgrade their rushing attack.
Vikings Territory writer K. Joudry notes that while acquiring Barkley is unlikely, the move offers strategic merit for Minnesota. The Vikings have projected salary cap space and upcoming free agency decisions regarding running backs Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason.
