Quarterback J.J. McCarthy drew praise from head coach John Harbaugh and wide receiver Malik Nabers following his performance in the New York Giants' 34-27 Week 6 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Replacing starter Jameis Winston in the fourth quarter with the Giants trailing 34-10, McCarthy completed 11 of 21 passes for 243 yards, one touchdown, and one interception during a near-comeback.
Harbaugh complimented McCarthy for giving the team a chance to win despite difficult circumstances, while Nabers commended the quarterback's execution without having received first-team practice reps. McCarthy, acquired from the Minnesota Vikings in late September for a 2027 fifth-round draft pick, expressed gratitude for the opportunity with New York.
