Less than a month into his time with the New York Giants, J.J. McCarthy already has a clear opportunity to start proving the Vikings wrong.

The New York Giants reportedly plan to start quarterback J.J. McCarthy against the Houston Texans in Week 7, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. McCarthy replaces Jameis Winston after an impressive fourth-quarter relief appearance against the New Orleans Saints, where he threw for 243 yards following his trade from the Minnesota Vikings in late September.
Brad Berreman argues that McCarthy's starting debut presents an opportunity to prove the Vikings gave up on him too early after just 10 starts. However, Berreman also notes that McCarthy's production against a depleted Saints defense may be unsustainable, though facing Houston's 27th-ranked pass defense offers a favorable matchup.
