Odell Beckham Jr. joined the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad on Wednesday after head coach Kevin O’Connell reached out following the receiver’s release from the New York Giants.
Odell Beckham Jr. explained that his prior relationship with head coach Kevin O'Connell drove his decision to join the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad. The 33-year-old receiver signed with Minnesota on Wednesday following his release from the New York Giants on Sept. 29. Beckham noted that O'Connell reached out directly to recruit him after they previously won Super Bowl LVI together with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021.
Minnesota added the veteran pass catcher ahead of Sunday's matchup against the New Orleans Saints. The Vikings hold a 4-0 record but have sought receiving depth while star wideout Justin Jefferson recovers from an ankle injury. O'Connell stated Beckham arrived in good physical shape and could be an option to play as soon as Sunday.
