The NFL Has 8 Kings in the North and the Vikings Stand at the Top

Through seven weeks of the 2026 season, all eight teams across the NFC North and AFC North hold winning records, led by the undefeated Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota became the league's final unbeaten team following a win over the Indianapolis Colts alongside Week 7 losses by the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs. In the AFC North, the Cleveland Browns lead the division at 5-2 under new head coach Todd Monken.

Writer Adam New highlights that defensive coordinator Brian Flores has driven Minnesota's surprising success despite ongoing questions surrounding the offense. The Vikings now face a demanding four-game slate featuring road matchups against the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and 49ers, as well as a home game against the Buffalo Bills.
