J.J. McCarthy nearly helped lead the New York Giants to a comeback attempt over the New Orleans Saints in Week 6. However, it may not be enough for him to get the starting gig in Week 7.

Following a 34-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints, New York Giants quarterback J.J. McCarthy may not immediately take over starting duties from Jameis Winston. McCarthy entered in relief of a benched Winston, throwing for 243 yards and a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Despite the strong finish, head coach John Harbaugh remained non-committal regarding who will start under center in Week 7 against the Houston Texans.
According to reports from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and The Athletic's Dan Duggan, New York could keep Winston on a short leash for Week 7 and wait until after their Week 8 bye to officially start McCarthy against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, GMEN HQ argues that the Giants should ride the hot hand and start McCarthy immediately to secure their position atop the NFC East.
