The New York Giants running back has made a habit of running through defenders, and his latest collision with the Houston Texans has opened a much bigger debate about where the NFL draws the line on ball carriers.

The NFL fined New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo $7,073 during the team's bye week for use of the helmet. The fine stemmed from a play where Skattebo lowered his pads and collided with a defender during a recent game against the Houston Texans, which had also drawn an in-game penalty flag.
Writer Rob Gregson argues that the fine sets a concerning precedent for downhill runners and creates ambiguity regarding basic running back technique. Before receiving the punishment, Skattebo stated that he would not alter his physical style of play despite the threat of fines or penalties.
