John Harbaugh has taken responsibility for the New York Giants’ decision to release Odell Beckham Jr., admitting the team simply could not find a meaningful role for the veteran receiver.
John Harbaugh has taken personal responsibility for the New York Giants' decision to release veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. The decision ended Beckham's second stint with the franchise after just three games, in which he played 20 offensive snaps and logged one target without a catch. Harbaugh stated that the team was simply unable to carve out a meaningful role for the receiver on the field.
Harbaugh clarified that the release was strictly related to roster needs rather than Beckham's reputation or their relationship. Because Beckham did not play on special teams, his limited offensive role became hard to justify as the Giants promoted Braxton Berrios and Charlie Jones to provide versatility.
