Skattebo committed four fumbles, one of which he lost, over the season's first five weeks and was made a nonfactor against the Saints.
Former running back and analyst Tiki Barber stated that the New York Giants reduced Cam Skattebo's role for issues beyond a single costly fumble. Skattebo logged no touches during the Giants' 34-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints, which the second-year back publicly described as punishment for his late turnover against Washington on October 11.
Barber explained on WFAN that Skattebo's benching stemmed from ongoing misreads in the run game and missed pass-protection assignments throughout the season. Skattebo had recorded four fumbles across the first five games of the season, leading head coach John Harbaugh to sideline him as the team fell to 3-2-1.
