D'Angelo Ponds' summer injury has delayed his development, but the New York Jets cornerback is using the experience as a learning opportunity.

New York Jets rookie cornerback D'Angelo Ponds revealed how an offseason calf injury delayed his development ahead of the 2026 season. After winning a national championship with Indiana, the 50th overall draft pick missed all of training camp and the preseason due to the ailment, which prompted the Jets to ease him into action slowly.
In an interview with The Jet Press, Ponds explained the physical toll of transitioning directly from college to the NFL without a break. He noted that navigating the injury taught him how to take care of his body as he works to earn more playing time.
