Eagles LBs Jihaad Campbell, Jeremiah Trotter To Split Playing Time

Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio announced that linebackers Jihaad Campbell and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. will split defensive snaps moving forward. Fangio denied broadcast rumors that Trotter was replacing Campbell outright in the starting lineup, but confirmed that the team plans to increase Trotter's opportunities after he impressed coaches while filling in during a Week 4 start against the Los Angeles Rams.

Campbell, a 2025 first-round pick, started 10 games as a rookie but has endured a slower start in his second season. Trotter was drafted in the fifth round in 2024 and had largely played special teams before earning more defensive consideration. The coaching staff plans to retain Campbell's starting designation while evaluating whether Trotter warrants an expanded rotational role.
