DeSean Jackson has reflected on his abrupt 2014 release from the Philadelphia Eagles under former head coach Chip Kelly, calling the experience "just betrayal." Speaking on Football Unfiltered with Rob Maaddi and the Dan Patrick Show, Jackson stated that allegations surrounding his associations outside of football were fabricated. Kelly claimed in 2014 that cutting Jackson was purely a football decision, an explanation supported by Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie. Following his departure, Jackson played for several teams, won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, and officially retired as an Eagle in 2023.
