French President Emmanuel Macron suggested that ongoing nationwide protests could prompt a ban on public gatherings ahead of the NFL's first game in France. The Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints are scheduled to play next Sunday at Stade de France in Paris. Widespread demonstrations over rising living costs and poor school conditions have led to clashes and at least 1,800 arrests across the country.
Despite the unrest, the NFL released a statement confirming that preparations for the game and surrounding events remain on schedule. The league stated that it is actively coordinating on security and operational measures with local authorities and both franchises. The Saints have also confirmed direct contact with French security partners, while the potential public ban could severely impact stadium attendance.
