Despite a thumb injury that was initially projected to keep Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield out through the Week Six game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Mayfield is doing all he can to beat that timeline. Per NFL reporter James…

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield is reportedly pushing to return from a fractured thumb in time for Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to NFL reporter James Palmer, Mayfield recently had stitches removed from his thumb, but medical clearance will depend on bone healing, pain tolerance, and his ability to grip the football.
Mayfield suffered the injury in Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings, leading rookie undrafted free agent Jalon Daniels to step in at quarterback. The Buccaneers are expected to exercise caution with Mayfield's recovery, and an official decision on his playing status is not expected until next week.
