The Pittsburgh Steelers have spent seven games discovering that a return can go wrong before the football ever reaches the man paid to run with it.

Pittsburgh Steelers special teams coordinator Danny Crossman addressed the challenges facing rookie return specialist Kaden Wetjen following Sunday's 16-10 victory over the New Orleans Saints. Crossman noted that while Wetjen is improving at recognizing lanes, issues such as penalties, limited opportunities, and disrupted blocking timing have hindered the unit's overall production.
Wetjen recorded 60 yards on two kickoff returns and 13 yards on his lone punt return during the game. Steeler Nation argues that while Wetjen continues to develop, the surrounding blocking unit and coaching execution must improve to give the fourth-round draft pick clean opportunities to break big returns.
