When watching the Pittsburgh Steelers this season, there’s been a notable problem. The team is not establishing strong starts to drives, resulting in too many three-and-outs. This got me curious to see how this issue has fared across the NFL.…

Clayton Eckert argues that the Pittsburgh Steelers are struggling with three-and-out drives on both sides of the ball through Week 6. Pittsburgh's offense ranks tied for 27th in the NFL with a 29.2 percent three-and-out rate and sits 28th in third-down conversions. Meanwhile, the defense ranks 26th by forcing three-and-outs on just 15.7 percent of opposing possessions.
Eckert highlights issues with offensive play-calling, situational awareness, and execution despite veteran quarterback play. Although Pittsburgh rebounded late for a 26-19 overtime victory last week, Eckert warns that this inconsistency is unsustainable ahead of a Week 7 matchup against the New Orleans Saints.
