With a nine-game international slate in 2026, the NFL is now looking to expand its horizons to another continent.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced that the league plans to host its first regular-season game in Tokyo in the near future. Speaking on the "NFL Daily" show on Friday, Goodell noted that Tokyo is clearly on the league's target list for upcoming seasons as the NFL continues to prioritize expanding its presence in international markets.
While the NFL previously played 14 exhibition games in Japan between 1976 and 2005, it has never staged a regular-season contest there. The league featured a nine-game international slate in 2026, which included debuts in Melbourne, Rio de Janeiro, and Paris, with officials considering expanding to 10 international matchups for 2027.
