49ers QB Brock Purdy earns MVP honors from ESPN's Bill Barnwell, while Trent Williams, Fred Warner, George Kittle and Kyle Shanahan also get recognition.

ESPN analyst Bill Barnwell named San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy as his NFL Most Valuable Player for the 2026 quarter-season awards. Through a 4-0 start under head coach Kyle Shanahan, Purdy completed 69.9 percent of his passes for 1,007 yards, 11 touchdowns, and one interception. Notably, he went the first four games without taking a single sack.
Several other 49ers earned recognition in Barnwell's awards, including offensive tackle Trent Williams leading the Protector of the Year category. Linebacker Fred Warner and tight end George Kittle placed second and third, respectively, for Comeback Player of the Year following major injuries last season.
