With the trade deadline looming, 49ers wideout De'Shaun Stribling's fate may be out of his hands.

Niner Noise writer Zane Gelphman argues that the San Francisco 49ers' upcoming trade deadline strategy will determine rookie wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling's role for the rest of the season. Following a trade for defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, general manager John Lynch must decide whether to acquire another wideout before November 10 or rely on Stribling when he returns from injury in December.
Gelphman notes that trading for a receiver would signal a lack of trust in the inexperienced rookie ahead of the postseason. Conversely, standing pat would force Stribling directly into a prominent offensive role despite missing significant time to adapt to Kyle Shanahan's scheme.
