The Story in 60 Seconds

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw has had his one-game suspension upheld by the NFL after an unsuccessful appeal. Jointly appointed hearing officer James Thrash affirmed the league's penalty following an altercation in which Greenlaw headbutted Seattle Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones IV. As a result, Greenlaw will be sidelined for San Francisco's Week 6 matchup against the Washington Commanders.

The incident took place during the second quarter of the 49ers' 32-29 victory over Seattle. After shoving quarterback Sam Darnold out of bounds, Greenlaw confronted Jones on the sideline and delivered a headbutt to the helmetless linebacker, earning an ejection and a 15-yard penalty. This marks the second unsportsmanlike conduct suspension of Greenlaw's career.
