The San Francisco 49ers have released defensive lineman Ogbo Okoronkwo ahead of their Week 7 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. The roster move opens up a spot for the potential activation of wide receiver Christian Kirk from injured reserve, who has been sidelined with a calf injury.
Okoronkwo appeared in six games with one start for San Francisco this season, recording two tackles and one sack after signing a one-year deal in August. Over his eight-year NFL career, Okoronkwo has totaled 18 sacks and 134 tackles across 87 regular-season appearances.
