The 49ers made a move for DeForest Buckner already, but the Bears trading for Jeffery Simmons just blew the market doors wide open.

Peter Panacy of Niner Noise argues that the blockbuster trade sending defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears could negatively impact the San Francisco 49ers. The Tennessee Titans traded Simmons and a fifth-round draft pick to Chicago for two first-round picks and a fourth-rounder. The deal followed San Francisco's trade acquiring defensive tackle DeForest Buckner from the Indianapolis Colts for a fourth-round pick.
Panacy contends that Chicago's massive package sets a costly benchmark that creates a difficult seller's market before the trade deadline. The author argues that higher asking prices could discourage 49ers general manager John Lynch from pursuing further additions to keep pace in the NFC playoff race.
