49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has slipped in the MVP race, and it's no secret as to why.

Zane Gelphman of Niner Noise argues that San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch could hurt quarterback Brock Purdy's MVP chances by not acquiring another wide receiver before the trade deadline. Although the 49ers hold a 6-1 record, Gelphman contends that a lack of offensive depth contributed to Purdy's struggles in a Week 7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
While the team traded a fourth-round pick for defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, reports suggest San Francisco may avoid further major deals. Gelphman suggests adding receiving options such as Brian Thomas Jr. or Josh Downs to support Purdy, who currently trails Josh Allen in MVP odds.
