Washington Commanders defensive tackle Daron Payne suffered a season-ending Jones fracture during practice on Friday, a source told ESPN. The injury occurred late during a team drill in a light practice and was described as a fluke incident. Payne will be placed on injured reserve, with recovery expected to take up to four months.
The setback comes ahead of Washington's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, with defensive end Javon Kinlaw also sidelined by a knee injury. Payne, who is the Commanders' longest-tenured position player, is currently in the final year of his contract.
