Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterback Baker Mayfield is making progress with his dislocated thumb, but Tampa Bay currently plans to start rookie Jalon Daniels in Week 6.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles announced that quarterback Baker Mayfield is using a smaller splint on his dislocated right thumb, but the team plans to start rookie Jalon Daniels in Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mayfield will test his ability to grip a football during practice as the Buccaneers continue to monitor his progress.
Mayfield suffered the injury during a Week 3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, ending his streak of 57 consecutive starts. Daniels, who recently guided Tampa Bay to a 24-16 victory over the Dallas Cowboys to improve the team's record to 1-4, is set to make his third consecutive start.
