Jer’Zhan Newton’s 2026 debut is coming soon. Missing the first half of the season due to a pectoral tear, the third-year defensive tackle is coming back from IR. The Commanders will use an IR activation on Newton, NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport…

The Washington Commanders have officially activated defensive tackle Jer'Zhan Newton from injured reserve and placed wide receiver Dyami Brown on IR. Newton is set to make his 2026 season debut after missing the first half of the year due to a torn pectoral muscle. In a corresponding move, the team elevated wide receiver Jaden Bradley from the practice squad to help bolster their depleted receiver corps.
Newton's return provides needed interior reinforcement for head coach Dan Quinn's defense after season-ending injuries to starters Daron Payne and Javon Kinlaw. Brown, who returned to Washington on a one-year deal this past offseason, heads to IR after recording nine receptions for 94 yards across the first half of the campaign.
