Commanders defensive tackle Daron Payne suffered a significant foot injury during Friday's practice, which will send him to injured reserve.

Washington Commanders defensive tackle Daron Payne suffered a significant foot injury during Friday's practice that is expected to place him on injured reserve, according to ESPN and NFL insider Ian Rapoport. Payne will miss Sunday's matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles and will be sidelined for at least four weeks, with tests determining if he could miss the rest of the season.
The injury severely complicates trade plans for Washington ahead of the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline, where Payne had been viewed as a potential moving piece. The 29-year-old defensive tackle carries a $16.4 million base salary this season as Washington sits at 1-4-1 in the NFC East.
